Congratulations UOG Graduates!

The UOG Alumni Association would like to congratulate all of the UOG graduates! We are very proud of all of you, and we're confident that you'll do great things for our community! Remember, together we can make a difference!

We'd also like to commend all of the UOG alumni who joined us in our Generations of Tritons March held at the Spring 2009 Commencement! Un Dangkulo Na Si Yu'os Ma'ase'! BIBA UOG!

●Fifty-one received master's degrees this year, and 147 received bachelor's degrees.

●The graduates earned degrees in the areas of Language and Literacy, Special Education, Early Childhood/Elementary Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Administration and Supervision, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Counseling, English, Communication, Music, Biology, Social Work, Accounting, Nursing, Psychology, Sociology, Computer Information Systems, Finance and Economics, International Tourism and Hospitality, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, and more!

●UOG alumni participated in a special Generations of Tritons March into the UOG Field House.

UOG Alumni Update - May 22

May 22 - 2009 Relay for Life

Come out and show your Triton spirit by joining the Relay for Life tonight! The University of Guam is scheduled to walk May 22 from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. UOG will be joining the Government of Guam “Healthy Guam Initiative Team” and their booth is Tent #17 (next to the Green Park Condo). UOG was assigned to bring Healthy Desserts as our contribution to the booth.



May 22 - Marine Lab Presentation

Dave Burdick, the GIS Specialist with Guam Coastal Management, and Mike McCue, former curator of Underwater World, will give a presentation about their recent trip to Palau , entitled:

"Exploring the northern reefs of Palau : Video and stills from Kayangel Atoll"

There will be no immunization clinic at the Student Health Center from May 20 – July 10. Dr. Flores will continue her regularly schedule clinic days and times. Summer Research Apprenticeship Program

The Summer Research Apprenticeship Program to available to high school students. The objective of this program, which is funded under the ADAP and CariPac Resident Instruction projects, is to introduce the fields of Agriculture, Consumer and Family Sciences, and related sciences to high school students and encourage their interest to pursue these fields of study once they enter college. Micronesian Anthology

Call for Submissions

Submission Deadline: Monday, June 1, 2009

We seek writing by indigenous writers from Micronesia for possible inclusion in this first anthology focused specifically on this region of the Pacific Islands (including the islands of Guam, Saipan and the Northern Marianas Islands, Belau, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Chuuk, Yap , Kiribati , the Marshall Islands and Nauru ). The Faculty Senate is accepting nominations for the 2010 Palulap Medallion Award.

The Palulap Medallion Award is a prestigious award presented by the Faculty Senate of the University of Guam to a member of the community of Guam who has made extraordinary contributions to the protection and promotion of the fundamental principles of the academy for the University of Guam, including academic freedom, institutional integrity, institutional and individual autonomy, and shared academic governance.

PIP

Professional and International Programs proctors the Guam Driver’s License every non-payday Friday and the Insurance/Real Estate Exams on the first Friday of the month. These examinations are held at Annex A (formerly Warehouse A). These folks need to make payment at the PIP office, MARC Building , 2nd Floor. If someone asks you, please direct them to make payment first, and then point them toward Annex A.
